S.P.Q.R.,
the famous Roman emblem, stands for "Senatus Populusque Romanus" -
the Senate and People of Rome. Established in 1992 S.P.Q.R., a former
mechanics garage, was one of the first "new age" establishments to
open up in this once red light district of Auckland. One of a kind,
S.P.Q.R. is cherished by its regular local clientele, and renowned
for its exceptional food, service, and ambience.
Food & Wine
S.P.Q.R. brings the spirit of Italy to the table serving a mix
of traditional and modern Italian fare. Freshness and simplicity are
paramount. Uncomplicated menu - strong flavours and aromas abound
from the use of fresh herbs and quality olive oil. The crispy-based
pizzas are the best you'll ever taste. An extensive range of European,
Australian and New Zealand wines are offered - all wines are available
by the glass. S.P.Q.R.'s special blend of coffee - creamy and strong.
Ambience
S.P.Q.R. is the epitome of ambience. Soft lighting and the fireplace
in winter create a warm, comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. Depending
on the time of day, music ranges from opera to lounge to happy house.
Outside pavement tables create the perfect opportunity to dine alfresco.
Always bustling and lively, S.P.Q.R. is the place to go for good times
and invigorating conversation. Clientele is a good mixture of Auckland's
colourful society. |
